PT Continuing Education Co-Sponsorship Program
North American Sports Medicine Institute (NASMI)
Advances in Clinical Education
North American Sports Medicine Institute/Advances in Clinical Education is pleased to learn of your interest in co-sponsoring one or more of our PT con ed courses. Each year we conduct over 30 PT continuing education seminars throughout the United States in the areas of Sports Medicine, and Orthopaedics. We currently offer a series of courses leading up to Certification of Competency in Sports Physical Therapy.
While we usually conduct our PT continuing education seminars at hotels convenient to faculty and students, with professional conference facilities, we are quite willing to do the same in alternative settings provided they are comparable and perhaps offer other advantages to participants such as free parking and geographical convenience.
We need however to be assured that the co-sponsor fully understands their obligations and is willing to play an active roll in the success of the PT continuing education seminar. This information packet on co-sponsorship has been designed to assist you in confirming that you wish to co-sponsor and to help us both achieve a successful outcome.
WHAT NASMI WILL DO FOR THE CO-SPONSOR
In return for active and successful co-sponsorship, we will provide one free course registration for every 10 paid registrations. Stay in touch with us to learn of your number of free registrations. Should we have any last minute cancellations, your number of agreed free registration will not be affected. In addition we will discount the tuition 10% for any additional participants employed by the co-sponsoring facility to be approved / verified by the coordinator. All registrations and fees are to be made with NASMI. We will send confirmations of receipt of deposit and of full payments.
- NASMI will generate a course roster, sign in sheet and certificates of completion.
- NASMI will provide each participant with a course notebook.
- NASMI will assume all direct expenses related to Speakers such as meals, travel, and lodging.
- We will also provide course materials for participants.
- NASMI will be responsible for printing brochures for the PT continuing education seminar and will advertise the seminar nationally along with our other locations.
The PT continuing education seminar location should be convenient to public transportation and a hotel. This is important for faculty and particularly out of town registrants. A hospital located on the outskirts of a metropolitan area is not generally attractive to registrants and faculty. Geographical areas with a sufficient population base of professionals and close proximity to air travel are preferred.
Room size: A room in which to conduct a course must be of adequate size. Small rooms with obstructions make it difficult to lecture. Sufficient room is needed to conduct labs and make participants comfortable. We recommend 1500 to 2000 square feet of unobstructed space be available in the event of a large number of participants. Acoustics and Sound System: There should be no interference from other public address systems, such as hospital paging. A microphone system will be needed.
The host facility must provide for seating classroom style. (2 people to a 6 foot conference table) These tables can be used for lab demonstrations. If a lecture auditorium is used, an additional break-out area is needed outside the classroom.
An LCD projector for power point presentations and an 8 foot or larger professional screen.
Arrangements should be made to offer a continental breakfast with beverages prior to the course each morning and a break with snacks and beverages in the afternoon. How much or how little is up to you.
NASMI will produce a brochure for direct mail. NASMI will make arrangements to obtain mailing lists and mail out brochures to your state and any bordering state using selected zip codes within a reasonable driving distance. The co-sponsor should place an advertisement
in the State Chapter Newsletter. We also strongly recommend phone calls to hospital departments and colleagues.
In the Application Form which we ask you to complete, we will request a full statement as to the promotion and advertising you are planning as well as a statement as to why you think the program should succeed in your location.
NASMI reserves the right to cancel any co-sponsored course which two weeks prior to the
start of the course if there are less than 20 paid registrants.
